Refund policy

RETURN & REFUND POLICY

Effective Date: 1.1.2025

At Carter Country Meats, we are committed to providing the highest quality meat products and exceptional customer service. We understand that sometimes issues may arise with your order, and we want to ensure your complete satisfaction with every purchase.

1. GENERAL POLICY OVERVIEW

Due to the perishable nature of our products and food safety regulations, we maintain specific policies for returns and refunds that comply with health department requirements while ensuring customer satisfaction.

2. PERISHABLE PRODUCTS

2.1 Quality Guarantee

We guarantee the quality of all perishable meat products at the time of delivery. All products are shipped frozen or refrigerated in accordance with USDA guidelines and food safety standards.

2.2 Non-Returnable Items

For food safety reasons, we cannot accept returns of perishable meat products once they have been delivered. This policy is in accordance with FDA Food Code and state health regulations.

2.3 Refund Eligibility for Perishable Products

If for any reason you have issues with your shipment, please email info@cartercountrymeats.com and we will find a solution for you. All perishable product are shipped with Corso insurance. We will issue refunds or replacements for perishable products in the following circumstances: 

  • Product Quality Issues: If products arrive spoiled, contaminated, or not at safe temperatures
  • Incorrect Items: If you receive different products than ordered
  • Missing Items: If items listed on your packing slip are missing from delivery
  • Damaged Packaging: If packaging is compromised affecting product safety
  • Delivery Issues: If delivery is delayed beyond the guaranteed timeframe causing product spoilage

3. NON-PERISHABLE PRODUCTS

3.1 Return Window

Non-perishable items (seasonings, sauces, merchandise, equipment) may be returned within thirty (30) days of delivery if they meet the following conditions:

  • Items must be unused and in original packaging
  • Items must be in resalable condition
  • Original receipt or order confirmation must be provided
  • Customer is responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error

3.2 Non-Returnable Non-Perishable Items

The following non-perishable items cannot be returned:

  • Opened seasonings or sauces
  • Customized or personalized products
  • Gift cards
  • Items marked as "final sale"

4. REFUND PROCESS

4.1 How to Request a Refund

To request a refund or report an issue:

  1. Contact us within 48 hours of delivery for perishable products
  2. Contact us within 30 days of delivery for non-perishable products
  3. Email: info@cartercountrymeats.com
  4. Include your order number and photos of any quality issues
  5. Provide a statement of why the product is unacceptable
  6. Every perishable shipment is shipped with insurance provided by Corso

4.2 Documentation Required

For quality issues, we may request:

  • Photos of the product and packaging
  • Temperature reading upon arrival (if applicable)
  • Batch/lot numbers from packaging
  • Description of the issue

4.3 Refund Timeline

Once approved, refunds will be processed as follows:

  • Credit Card: 2-5 business days
  • Shopify Pay: 2-5 business days
  • PayPal: 3-5 business days
  • Other Payment Methods: 3-5 business days

5. REPLACEMENT POLICY

At our discretion, we may offer a replacement instead of a refund for:

  • Quality issues with perishable products
  • Incorrect items shipped
  • Missing items from your order

Replacements will be shipped at no additional cost via expedited shipping to ensure freshness.

6. SHIPPING DAMAGE & DELAYS

6.1 Carrier-Related Issues

We are not responsible for delays caused by:

  • Weather conditions
  • Natural disasters
  • Carrier service disruptions
  • Incorrect addresses provided by customer

However, we will work with you to file claims with shipping carriers when appropriate.

6.2 Delivery Refusal

If you refuse delivery of perishable products, no refund will be issued due to food safety regulations and inability to resell the products.

7. CANCELLATION POLICY

7.1 Order Cancellation

Orders may be cancelled:

  • Within 2 hours of placement for standard orders
  • Up to 24 hours before scheduled shipping for pre-orders
  • Custom or special orders cannot be cancelled once processing begins

7.2 Cancellation Refunds

Cancelled orders will receive a full refund minus any transaction fees if applicable.

8. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

8.1 Subscription Orders

Subscription orders follow the same policies with these additions:

  • Subscription items can be skipped or modified up to 48 hours before shipping
  • Refunds for subscription items follow standard perishable product policies

8.2 Bulk or Commercial Orders

Orders over $500 may be subject to additional terms and conditions as specified in separate commercial agreements.

9. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES

To ensure successful delivery and maintain product quality:

  • Provide accurate delivery information
  • Ensure someone is available to receive perishable deliveries
  • Refrigerate or freeze products immediately upon receipt
  • Check products upon delivery and report issues within 48 hours

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Our liability for any claim relating to product quality or delivery shall not exceed the purchase price of the specific products at issue. We are not liable for consequential or incidental damages.

11. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Any disputes regarding returns or refunds will first be addressed through our customer service team. If unresolved, disputes may be subject to mediation or arbitration as outlined in our Terms of Service.

12. POLICY MODIFICATIONS

Carter Country Meats reserves the right to modify this policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. The version in effect at the time of your order will apply to that transaction.
